 Brain Wave #14: Virtual insanity

The last two weeks have been dreadful, university exams are not a joke...but also in this time a friend of mine showed me a video called "WE ARE NOT PROMPTS" in case you have no idea what I'm talking about, basically it's a 2 minute video made up of clips that are all AI generated, and the content is just generated people talking about the "prompt theory" and how these characters are trying to deny it. Now, I'm trying to imagine your prospective on it as you're reading it right now, this just sounds like your casual AI slop content of a stupid ass voice talking absolute nonsense, but it's not!
OK, you might think I'm insane at first, BUT HEAR ME OUT!

First of all: these clips are way too realistic, like holy shit I'm aware of how much AI has upgraded recently, but I had no idea that they could generate such realistic images, don't get me wrong I'm not the type of person who sees some AI slop on Facebook and believes in everything it says, but at the same time this was like scary realistic.
Other than that, let's talk about this "prompt theory" the message that this video is trying to convey, IN MY OPINION, is that AI nowadays is not that far to get to Skynet level of intelligence, the characters in this video are trying to disdain that they're basically made up of 0s and 1s, and the "conspiracy theorists" in their world are trying to prove that they're all just made up from an AI prompt, just a phrase that a real human being wrote. And I mean, what is there to be scared of? We know that they actually are prompts, again because it's kinda easy to tell if they're AI generated as it would always look a bit off. The frightening part if this whole thing is that one day they might actually not be prompts, and these AI systems actually generate content on their own, and become Skynet and control huanity!

OK I do sound a little crazy...

Sure, we are not on the road for Skynet, given that hopefully there would be people out there who care about humanity, but what's concerning at the moment is that AI can just take "control on people" by just learning on how to make slop on its own and keep people's faces on their screen an stop more and more people from being productive members of society because this fuckery is just gonna brainwash us and keep us back from evolving. I talk about as if I don't scroll on TikTok and Instagram reels on a daily basis, but trust me when I say that there are people out there, GROWN ADULTS, who are just much worse than your average scroller, who will most certainly make their whole life a following to all the slop that's gonna come out. But also, obviously, more suscetible minds as well, they're already making memes saying "Me showing an AI generated picture of me and a rich old man so he puts me on his will" type of shit, which in a way makes sense of the gravity of the situation to others who are watching these memes. Am I making sense? Funnily enough at the moment, as always, I'm listening to The Basement Yard and other than inspiring myself to that in the way I'm writing this, I am also listening to the episode called "Am I making sense?" which in some way also talks about this kind of stuff, but mostly on social media. So yeah,,,I'm not making sense and I'm telling you to close this and go somewhere else to get what I'm saying.

Another point I would like to make is: yeah we're using these types of videos to sort of raise awareness of how "powerful" and "influential" this type of content is, which is the major reason why humans tell stories and keep knowledge flowing within communities btw, but also y'know I kinda hate the fact that it's basically accessible by anyone, and I don't wanna get political (obviously) and go into the argument of AI trying to take over real art and stuff, but also other than the crimes related to AI you also got the problem that just like the internet as everyone has access to it, there are people out there who would use it for harming causes. You know what? I just hate the internet...But at the same time it's great...I already talked about this? It's strange, fun fact in Estonia free access to internet is a human right, and I don't blame them at all, just y'know "don't do stupid shit, kids" is basically what I'm trying to say most of the times.

Holy Jesus and many other people in the bible, I really thought I was onto something when I was thinking about writing this entry and I actually started writing it, but as always I just end up rambling and sounding like a piece of garbage. But that could just be the way I write, or my mind just completely crashes after 2 lines. At the same time I'm happy that it comes out this way, I want it to be kind of spontaneous and just a collection of thoughts, as I probably already mentioned previously.
Summer just started, I'm planning to do a lot of productive stuff, again probably already mentioned in a whole ass entry, but I'll try to get the website up and running, will definitely write more often and consume a lot of good media that is not scrollable lmao (apart from manga, I pirate that of course).
